I have been running Taylor wires on my 84 GMC and the headers that I have are coated, but they look to be the same exact design. The coating on the headers does limit the heat coming from them, but they still get hot.

I do not have an issue with burining my plug wires, but it might also be due to the fact that I use the shortened plugs that ACCEL sells. I have had no issues with the plugs or the wires, since I went to this setup. You can do a dent or dimple on the header tube and not have a performance issue, if you need to.
