My Little Project...
Ok so last weekend I tried to start my 77 Stepside (350/400 combo) and no go. Eventually she fired up but idled really rough and alot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust which meant blown head gasket possibly.
For a whole week I was deciding if I should yank out the motor and built it...I ran the number and it came back as 4 Bolt main High Perf...or should just purchase an engine from Clist??? Because I was pressed on time and am moving in about 3 weeks I decided to purchase another engine and swap it out. I ran into a 350 .030 over, mild cam port and polished heads with 200 miles on it and paperwork to prove it still in the 63 C10 running for 1000 bucks. With all the accessories, minus headers and carb. Here goes my little project... This is what the truck looked like before the tear down... The engine before... Accessories out... Front Clip off... Motor and trans were yanked out... |

I'm not a stepper fan usually but I love that truck. Good luck with the swap

Re: My Little Project...
Thank you sir...I need the good luck wishes haha. Alot of work left to accomplish it in a week. The plan includes cleaning up the trans and painting it. Cleaning the whole engine bay including rewire everything and do a wire tuck as good as possible and of course paint the bay black.
We`ll see.... |

Re: My Little Project...
Thx guys...the filter is something I picked up at local speed shop, more like a stack. You can probably buy them on eBay.

Re: My Little Project...
Thank you...I drove my old motor for 2+ years straight into the ground Haha. Kept adding oil and antifreeze until she blew. Now comes the fun part actually getting her buttoned up and running.
I'll post a final pic ones everything is cleaned up...total time and money spent. Posted via Mobile Device |
