67 c10 carrier bearing mounting

I need to know if there is a bracket that the carrier bearing mounts to or does it just bolt to the trailing arm cross member. The PO put a one piece driveshaft in the truck and I need to go back to a two piece. Also what is the best carrier bearing to buy that will last? Thanks

there should be 2 holes in the trailing arm crossmember

There is a bracket that was factory riveted in the crossmember. It goes where those series of holes are on your cm. Then there would be holes and/or slots in the top of that bracket to bolt the carrier support to.

I don't think anyone reproduces that bracket. Many years ago, I broke mine. Ended up pulling one from the junk yard. It's a pain, you need to drill/grind/chisel the 4 factory rivets. I just cleaned & painted the used part and bolted it to my crossmember.

Thanks. I thought there must be a bracket. I posted on the for sale thread to see if any one has one for sale. Then I have to locate a 2 piece driveshaft.

There may be two styles. The frame bracket I broke many years ago was on a 70 GMC 1500, and it had the "horseshoe" style carrier. The junk yard bracket I scored was from a Chevy, and that was the "pedastal" or hanging doughnut style as I like to call it. I just replaced the carrier with the pedastal style to match my new bracket.

I actually have to do this crossmember bracket swap again for my current project. The 72 C/10 I'm working on now, the P.O. welded the broken bracket right to the top of the hole in the cm. I have a replacement frame bracket I was able to strip from my wrecked 71 C/10. I'll be taking the 72 to the driveline shop to replace the carrier bearing, u-joints, balance and align the shafts when I'm ready to roll. The truck was lowered and maybe the bracket broke due to bad angles and incorrect length.
