Really??? That is nuts! They were still available through Lmc until a few years ago. I had planned on buying one when I buy all my interior pieces, exterior trim, etc... but I can't now. I just looked in a old catalog and they $199.99 and you could get the deluxe or standard wheels, or 73-77 w/o power steering.

Re: Nos 1981-1987 steering wheel ebay auction!!!!

I kid you not!!! A nos tailgate band went for $889. A really really nice pair of nos cab corners went for $585 and i actually put a bid for those and my max bid was $325 cuz i know how super rare they are nos and immaculate. A back trim brushed aluminum cab panel went for $610. These auctions are getting out of hand and sometimes i just don't think it is fair. Its frustraying more than anything.

Yeah it just became a coin vs. Coin match. I just don't understand it. I guess if i were sitting pretty rich i would act that silly. I guess i will never know.

Who's buying this stuff? Is it as an investment or something? I'm pretty sure no one is going to put an $1800 steering wheel on a truck and then put their greasy hands all over it.

Re: Nos 1981-1987 steering wheel ebay auction!!!!

Time is money. Let's say you're a person that has done well in life and are paying a shop to restore a truck for you back to original, you want all NOS and are willing to pay the extra for those parts for that truck you took your first date in with your wife many years ago.

Now as a restore shop, your going rate is $90.00 to $125.00 an hour (The one down the road from me I think is even more "White Post Restorations")

You can either pay them the hourly rate to sit there all day looking for NOS on the internet, go to shows/swap meets/etc.. or just pay the freight and get want you want and need at the click of a button. It's not uncommon for many of the frame-off, bolt-for-bolt restores to cost $250,000.00 or better and I know this for a fact since I use to speak with Billy at WPR quite often and that's on the low end of the scale.

My guess, that is the case here.
