I have a 79 k25 with a 14 bolt full float that is in need of new brakes. I want to do the disc conversion to it but i need a parking brake due to having a 4 speed manual. Anyone done this that can point me in a good direction for this including a parts list id greatly appreciate it. Ps i work for a napa so this helps me a great bit!

Re: 14 bolt full float disc conversion

I would just use the D44 front calipers and fix up a cable operated disc pinion break, kinda like the old drums that came on a lot of Sm420's in the bigger trucks.

Re: 14 bolt full float disc conversion

check out pirate 4x4, they have some good articles about using the 76-78 caddy calipers that accept e-brake cables

* heres a good link describing the process:

also heres a link to the "14 bolt bible" very handy page:

Re: 14 bolt full float disc conversion

Thanks guys i was looking at the cadi calipers but cores are very expensive. Pinion brakes are out of the question. What is everyone using for proportioning valves?

Re: 14 bolt full float disc conversion

I am looking into inline tube for a prop valve for my 76 with 1 tons. http://inlinetube.com/Prop%20Valves/VCT104.htm
They dont list the specific part number but mention that they make a disc/disc valve. I already have all stainless brake lines from these guys and have been happy with it so far.
