Finishing Frame/ Removing Cab
Hey everyone me again!!
Two Questions: How does everyone remove there cabs, light enough to lift for me but the wife struggles a bit. Also my frame on my 4400 is fully rebuilt to original spec, I will be using a 350/t400 combo. Should I be adding some bracing or boxing the frame anywhere? Thanks Shane

Re: Finishing Frame/ Removing Cab
A bare cab? Just a couple guys usually. A complete cab..then the Bobcat works best

Re: Finishing Frame/ Removing Cab
Here's two ideas for lifting the cab....
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=419910 or.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=346948 the second one won't work if you're leaving the doors on.

Re: Finishing Frame/ Removing Cab
It depends on what you have access to. I've slid cabs from one truck frame to another by myself using a pair of planks before. I've also slid planks under a cab, jacked the frame up high enough so that after I blocked the planks up and let the truck down I could roll the frame out from under it.
lately I've used my chain hoist and a web strap to lift a cab. I wouldn't try to do it with two people as that will get someone hurt and if you get some friends over to help, no beer until the cab is off and setting on what ever you plan on setting it on. Both of the ways of using a cherry picker that 63 64 Bowties showed th links for in post three should work great if you have a flat floor with enough room to move the cherry picker around. |
