when you install the drop shackles in the rear does it affect your pinion angle? the previous owner used the kit with the rear and drop shackles and hangers.

i will get an angle gague tomorrow i just wanna know if i need to look into the drop shackle engineering and is my pinion angle gonna be off because of this kit.

thanks yall

Re: drop (flip) shackles in rear ???

Most of the manufactured "shackle/hanger" kits yield a 4" drop with minimal affect on pinion angle.
Do you know what brand drop parts the PO used?

Re: drop (flip) shackles in rear ???

On most 73-87's you shouldnt need to shim. With a shackle and hanger combined your driveshaft angle is increased, but the pinion angle stays about the same. Its a common issue on 88-98's but not earlier years.
