How many yards?

Maybe this is a general question ... I don't really know .....

I can never remember this ... How many yards do our 8ft beds hold? I'm talking just even with the bed rails.

I just took some branches and yard waste to the composter. I always lay a sheet of 4x8 plywood over the top and smash it all down good. It wasn't even close to the top and there was a lot of dead air space between all the branches (trimmed the apple trees) and she charged me for a yard and a half. Just seems like too much.

Re: How many yards?

Here is a calculator. It's length x width x height divided by 27 for cubic yards. You have to convert all the measurements to ft. I.E. 8'x6'x2' divided by 27

Re: How many yards?

8 foot beds are 74.3 cubic feet, according to a gm brochure. 74.3 divided by 27 = 2.75 yards.

Re: How many yards?

Hey thanks guys. Well maybe she was closer than I thought. We were out at the nursery part of the place a couple of weeks ago an her husband was talking to us and he said a pick up load of clean compost would only be 10 bucks. She charged us more than that, but I felt better stewing about it than arguing with her lol.

Just matched up to published bed dimensions. Use the 2.75 cubic yard number for something loose like dirt or horse pellets that will "fill" the bed.
