Atlas assymetrical 2 post
Anyone have any opinions on an Atlas vehicle lift model
Atlas 9KBP? This lift has an adjustable top from 11' 7' to 11' 10". I have 142.5 clearance. The similar eagle model needs 143 5/8" thanks |

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
My low profile Direct-lift (HR-8000) looks a lot like the Atlas.
Yours is "commercial" grade and rated a 1/2 ton higher and you can release the locks from one side (wish I had that!). Mostly the same specs otherwise. Looks like a good value to me. Beefier and only about $300 more. What does assymetrical mean? Ohhhhhhhh...my cars getting chased by a ![]() |

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
The assymetrical means that it can pickup vehicles off center of the posts --easier to get in and out of vehicle doors.

Thanks. Guess I took the feature for granted.

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
we just gota a new Challenger 2 post versymetric. it can be used both ways, has one sided release, and clear floor so you aren't tripping over the cable/hose deal. it has a 45 second rise time and is fairly stout. I don't remember the specs or model #, I can cover that tonight. price was fair as well. we got it through our local NAPA.
now, if someone wanted a real good hoist and never wanted to replace it for the next 20 years of commercial use I would recommend Mohawk System One. that one is our "go to" for trucks.

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
I like my hoist and have only one complaint. The likes include a single point lock release, 100% hydraulic so no cables, threaded lift pads that are adjustable up and down and assymetrical. The only complaint I have is it should be wider. The drive thru is too narrow, lifting long wheel base vehicles is easy but short wheelbase vehicles are a pain. Wide and short, like smaller SUV's are nearly impossible to line up the arms under a proper lifting point. If you look at the two Atlas lifts you posted there is an eight inch difference in the drive thru measurement... huge difference.
I didn't list my hoist brand because they aren't manufactured any more. |

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
not a problem with the asymetrical challenger. I have used it for jeep wranglers and crew cab fords. it also has threaded pads and one point release.

I bought my hoist used, it had been removed from a Honda dealership after a short time, I'm guessing because of how hard it was for techs to line up cars. My Nissan Cube I have to line up perfectly to hit the lift points. |

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
ok gang, the mohawks and challengers may be more commercial line and are pricier. Atlas told me that if I can stand 142" overall height that their symetrical
Atlas 9OHSC with drive thru of 100 3/4" may work better for me. cost is $100 more. |

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
I agree the Mohawk is way out there on price but you do get what you pay for. just for fun look at their website and see the video of how they are made.
I don't think the challenger is too much, but then again I just don't feel safe under a "hobbyist" lift.

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
Safety is always a concern. I was just trying to think of any tool that I have that I would consider the best or among them.....
For what they are -- maybe my Miller SD180, my EX2900 cub cadet. I guess maybe all the rest are hobbyist. I always try to buy American made and that includes North and South America. Mohawk is probably one of the few made in America. I thank all for the lift info. It has made me think of details that I did not consider before. I will probably pick up an Atlas 9ohsc in Atlanta after I drop a 69 k10 frame off at drewbee. i have a dotter in Atlanta. Any one have anything else from Cincy to Atlanta for me to haul on my 18 ft car hauler? |

Re: Atlas assymetrical 2 post
Just for the record, I am not trying to sell any particular brand. It is just what I purchased based on need and price.
