steering shaft
Okay I want to upgrade my steering shaft and get rid of the rag joint with an xj steering shaft, but I am not sure which are compatable. I am looking for some tech info please, before I go to the wreckers looking. I have a 76 column. There is a break in years from 73-78 and 79-87. I no that earlier are splined and newer have a square shaft. I am looking for an xj shaft for my splined steering column. Which are compatable for a 73-78 steering column? Does anyone have some input on this or done this. I am sure someone has.

Re: steering shaft
I'm not sure there is one compatable with the splined column. maybe swap your column as well, or at least the inner shaft?

Re: steering shaft
If I were to rplace the inner shaft to the square 79-87 style, what year XJ shafts will work then?

Re: steering shaft
Just cut the rag joint off and weld on a steeting u-joint. Borgeson makes a 1" bore that will slide onto the orignial shaft with a little material removal.
