A body drop? Is that the opposite of a body lift?

How would you deal with the clearance around the trans tunnel and hood clearance?

Re: 69-72 K5 Body Drop

Its when you cut around the perimeter of the floor and lower where the body attaches to the floor. Mini truck guys call it body drop and hot rodders call it channeling the floor. With bags and a notch you can usualy go fro laying the frameon the groud to laying the body on the ground. Some will shave the pinch weld under the rockers to get that little bit lower.

With the structural rocker boxes underneath these trucks dont lend themselves to this easily.

Re: 69-72 K5 Body Drop

I've seen a few done, but I don't have a clue how. This blue one was body dropped according the a listing on CL. The rolling chassis was for sale a few years back in CA, It included the dog house but I don't know what happened to the body.

I would think that most of the blazer/trucks that lay rocker have been channeled/body dropped.

Re: 69-72 K5 Body Drop

body drops for trucks are basicly lowering the frame mounts for the cab and rad support. then move bed floor up. get about 3/4 inch. dont think this will work on a blazer with out major mods becuase of the rear floor already sits real close to the frame.

Re: 69-72 K5 Body Drop

Thanks Guys,

I've seen pictures but nobody seems to have details or pix on how to do a channeled/body drop? Hopefully somebody will help. If not I'm just going c notch it and figure out the best way to bag it right. Any ideas how to bag it right using org. K5 parts. Any advice will be very helpful. I'm going up load pictures soon.

spend some time in the projects and builds board looking. you will find lots of ideas. also go into the trucks board and look. porter built fab has great kits for air bags using stock parts. he is a site vendor here.
