vette engine in my truck need help on identifying a piece on the intake

help i don't know what the piece bolted on the intake is? and what is it's purpose my choke won't work right puzzled

On my intake my EGR is in the same location...but your EGR is farther back...so..I dunno...maybe a heat-crossover block-off plate...

its the feed pipe for a hot air choke. if you look at it, there should be a small hole in it. that hole leads into a tube which loops around, and comes back out, and then goes to your choke.

Yep, that is exactly the same setup as what I just got done (well, I still have to put one heater hose back on and fill the cooling system) pulling off my Gentleman Jim.

You can see the fitting on the top-back centerline of the carb that is disconnected, there should be a metal tube between it and that hole in the plate that screws to the intake you pointed at. It should still work though, you are just drawing unfiltered air into the choke rather than filtered.
