taking out rear door glass
i tore down the rear doors on my burb tonite and i thought i'd give you a basic idea of how i did it. i can't give you mechanical ability, but i can help you out a little. i wish i'd have taken pictures.
1. roll window down. 2. unbolt the window tracks and the top of the "wing" window 3. push down on the rear track. this is the piece that separates the window and wing. it will slide down just enough to swing out enough to: 4. take out the wing window. 5. bend down the "tab" that the wing window gasket sits on. 6. wiggle the rear track out. this is a stupid trap and you'll think it's got you. it can be done. be careful not to scratch the glass. i accidentally got a little careless and scratched one of mine. 7. you can put the window up about halfway. straighten out the regulator. then you can manipulate the glass out. |

Re: taking out rear door glass
can this be done without scratching window tint? need to disassemble my rear door to paint, but don't want to kill my tint.

Re: taking out rear door glass
yes, it can be done. follow the steps i've provided and when it comes time to pull out the rear window channel, take your time. use no force, it will slide right out. when you try, it may seem improbable, but it can be done. wiggle it different directions until you get it.

Re: taking out rear door glass
cool, it worked. now to get it painted and hopefully back together without killing the tint! I also put a piece of 2" tape on the inside door edge to keep the glass from getting scratched as well while I was screwing with it.
