Trade? Good?bad?equal?

What u guys think? I got a 78 stepside custom deluxe, primer gray that needs body work, cab corner, needs rad support, bedsides and bodywork. It has a 250 ci with a auto b&m floorshifter, rebuild front end, lowered with spindles and springs and air shocks outback. 15 inch rims. This guy wants to trade for a 92 red chevy stepside with stock 350, lowered, flows, 188 thou miles, salvage title. Whats your guys opinion?

My opinion, keep and fix up your 78. Better the devil you know.

Trust me, there's nothing more frustrating than correcting someone else's mistakes.

Re: Trade? Good?bad?equal?

I'd keep the 78 man. much cooler truck and there are far less of them around. I get at least a few compliments on my truck a week even after someone wrecked the passenger side of it for me.

Re: Trade? Good?bad?equal?

Branded titles follow you forever and ever. Personally, I have no issues buying a salvaged vehicle and rebuilding it myself. But I'd never buy one with a salvage title not really knowing what was done, by who and with what.

188k on that 92 is a lot of rounds on the clock if the motor has not been rebuilt. What's the old saying? "It's on borrowed time."

Re: Trade? Good?bad?equal?

I have bought salvage titles cars several times. In each case they were completely repaired to like new condition, I paid 2/3rd's (or less) of book value, and I drove them forever before I sold them.
I would never consider buying a salvage vehicle, fixing it a little, and selling it right away. It doesn't matter how nice they are, that salvage title scares a ton of people away.
Do not trade.

Re: Trade? Good?bad?equal?

sounds like a 78 good truck, for a 92 bad truck
I'd let it be someone else's project
