Drop a '67 SWB Advice
I would like to lower my '67 because it's way too high. I really like the look of the 4/6 drop - but I'm trying not to break the bank. It's got drum brakes and 6 lug pattern on there now. From what I've gathered - to go with a 4/6 drop - you have to put drop spindles on the front - upgrade to disc brakes - c-notch the rear frame - relocate the shock mounts - get an adjustable sway bar, along with drop coils, etc., etc. I'd also have to change the wheels to match the 5 lug rotors - which I plan on someday anyways. It's just looking like it's going to cost alot of money to lower the truck 4/6 inches.
Is the lowest I can go just swapping the coils out 2/4? |

You can do a 3/5 with just coils.
But you really need drop shocks, rear shock relocators and an adjustable track bar.

Here is a Hotchkis 4/6 kit we sell, and when you add Belltech shocks, it is $529. The adjustable trac bar is a good idea when dropping low in the rear. It will help re-center that axle. I would definitely do the shorter shocks.

Re: Drop a '67 SWB Advice
I've heard many with issues with getting alignment correct with 3" coils...can't imagine with 4" coils....first I've seen anyone offer that...

I asked Hotchkis about the the alignment issues, and they claim you will not have any problems. It is a big drop for the front, but Hotchkis is known for quality suspension. I don't think they would offer a kit that would cause issues. I do recommend drop spindles and a 2" spring, but that isn't always in everyones budget. Keep in mind, the 6" rear drop is from factory height. It is common that after "x" years, the stock springs have sagged some. |
