Re: what kind of ac compressor is this??
Looks like a very common A6 axial compressor used on a lot of GM vehicles up to around 1980 "ISH". Not 100% sure on years used, but I know they were very common on earlier year GM vehices.

Re: what kind of ac compressor is this??
It's a da6 and they were a piece of crap when they were new. They were used in the mid 80's trucks.

Yea, remember GM had that "new" seal kit to put in it with a ceramic seal in it and new o-rings. Pig still leaked.

Re: what kind of ac compressor is this??
Those are not A6 compressors, in fact those are off of the 1990s vehicles and not trucks. That looks like the A/C compressor off of a late model FWD car. Definatly not an A6 compressor. That is not a vacuum port either, it is an electrical connection.
This is an A6 compressor....http://images.search.yahoo.com/image...mb=x2hLOcL2sWY

Re: what kind of ac compressor is this??
I only remember the trucks having the R4 compressors in the 1980s and I worked at a GMC dealership. Vans may have had the DA6 due to the different front belt drives. The DA6 was found more on the FWD V6 cars.
