Finally got my new wheels installed

20 x 8.5 with 275/40 in the front and 20 x 10 with 285/50 in the rear. What do y'all think? I am so glad to be rid of the old 15's I had. On a side note, my air compressor took a dump on me yesterday. I forgot how much work it was to remove 4 wheels and install 4 more by hand.

Re: Finally got my new wheels installed

Looks great bout to pull the trigger on the black face version staggered as well. did you have any issues with the front (1.25in rotor issues) or the rear (6.25 backspace too tucked in)?

No issues that I know of on the front. On the rear, I went with 5.5"
backspacing. I felt like the 6.25" would not look right at all.

I dont remember for sure. These were on my vette i was building for drag racing but after i sold it i got a wild hair one day and bought some bolt pattern converters/spacers and bolted them on to see how they looked. The tires were just some that i had thrown on there so i could roll the vette around but i didnt see the point of some brand new rims laying around my attic collecting dust. I still cant manage to get a set of center caps for them though. The ones i had disappeared when i moved to my new house.

Re: Finally got my new wheels installed

Man you just made my day. What size rotors do you have in the front 1in or the 1.25 HD rotors? and was 5.5in in the rear the only other option besides the 6.25? Incase you were unaware they used to only offer the 6.25 for the 20x10 and the fronts had issues with the HD rotors. Thanks again man

I am not certain of the thickness of my rotors. My truck was originally a 6 cylinder truck so I assume the rotors are 1".

As far as I know, 5.5" and 6.2" are the only backspacing for the 20" x 10" but I could be wrong.

BTW, what kind of issues did they have with the 1.25" rotors? I have one of my wheels that does not seem to sit flush against the rotor but that could just be me looking at it wrong.

Re: Finally got my new wheels installed

Your correct with the rears being only those two actually started an old thread up again in the 67-72 section about these wheels when i saw your post this morning. http://www.jdwheels.com/boss338.htm this shows all of the current offerings...and the hub bore for the rim is smaller than the hub on the 1.25 rotors making it not sit flush so check that out on your set up...As far as a fix the newest rim revision was supposed to fix it but didn't, the solution is to run a 1/4in spacer or have the hub machined down by a shop or do it yourself with a grinder.

Re: Finally got my new wheels installed

Thanks everyone. I am pleased with the look of them so far although I think I need to lower the truck more all the way around with the larger diameter wheels. That will involve a flip kit and c notch so that may be a project that is forgone to next winter.
