Door hinge pins?

I've got a problem on my driver's side door where the bottom of the door doesn't close as far as it should. Tried loosening the hinge bolts on the door and pulling the rear in and thus pushing the top out, but it's already in the furthest position it could be. Also tried the striker and while it helped it also pulled the top in too. Doesn't this mean that the hinge pins are the issue?

Re: Door hinge pins?

Your door might be a little twisted from all the years of pushing down on the arm rest while getting in and out. Could be the pins also. Does the door have a lot of play in the hinges when its open? My doors pins are shot and the door drops about 1/4" when you open it.

Re: Door hinge pins?

I suggest genuine GM OEM hinge pins only. They are still available from the dealer. GM sells them in packs of 5 pins and packs of 20 bushings. Some dealers (online dealers also) will sell you 2 pins and 4 bushings, but likely at a higher price than the pack per unit price. I bought 10 pins and 20 bushings online, used what I needed, then sold the rest here on the parts section of the forum.

Re: Door hinge pins?

p/n 20046147 for the pin (sold 5 per pack) and p/n 9721917 for the bushing (sold 20 per pack).

See my method of hinge pin replacement:

Here is my first failed attempt with aftermarket pin install, and discussion:
