Still too expensive. I'm not sure what their manufacturing costs are but I think they'd sell more if the price got a little more reasonable. Maybe they're trying to recoup design cost up front.

I see they've come down a little in price since I bought mine over a year ago. I'm very happy with the radio - the speaker I bought at the same time could use a little more base. I plan on adding another speaker under the dash. I didn't take any pictures of it before the installation but it is only about THREE inches deep ( all electronic ) Below, is a blurry picture of it installed in my 1970 C-10. . . . .

The only complaint I have is the push button edges are sharp and square. They should be radiused... like the originals. It maybe a small thing, but for that much money they should be right. Just sayin' the rest of it is exact.

I don't think its really that expensive when you consider what an original, that may not work will cost you and then you figure the price to get it repaired (which they all need after 40 years) and also take into account the extra features you get with the new ones. Nice to see them available.

Your correct on that one Jeff. I have an original truck am/fm I picked up at a swap meet that was a "working when I pulled it" buy which didn't and after a trip to a local radio shop it is now working great but I'm almost to the price of this new after market set-up.

i agree - have seen am/fm's go for over $400 used, and they looked at least a little used too (still worth it). So, if someone is remanning one that is all newer electronics that LOOKS almost exactly like the original, I'd say it's kinda worth it if you can't find an original am/fm or if you want all new internals. Me, I'm sticking with my cheapie AM! (for now...)

I found my AM i had put back,it wont work for some reason, but I have found the FM converter that we used to run in them.
is the kick panel speaker enclosures any good for the speakers in the floorboards |
