Re: bench seat smell

I read your question to my wife and she said "burn it". I'm not sure if she meant the seat or the dog.

Re: bench seat smell

I thought all old truck seats smelled like that? Its probably in the seat too. You might try some of the stuff a pet stores for urine that has the bactria that eats the stuff causing the smell.

Re: bench seat smell

I ended up buying an OEM seat cover and threw the old one away. Of course it turned a $50 junkyard seat into a $150 seat.

Re: bench seat smell

I rented a rug doctor for my living room, and before I took it back wondered if it would help with my 88 bench seat I have in my 49, which came out of a hog farmer's truck. The upholstery attachment did a fantastic job of pulling dirt and smell out of that seat. I know because of the color of water that was coming out of the seat....

It's not perfect, but it's light years cleaner and fresher than it was. I'm sure professional detailing equipment would do a better job, but it was a low cost solution to get a lot better smelling seat.

Re: bench seat smell

I had a cat pee on a seat once a few years back and I ended up having to replacing the seat. My 2 cents...dont waist your money on easy fixes, they dont work. Replace it.

Re: bench seat smell

You might check with a good auto detail guy as some of them can work miracles on stuff like that. If you are able to take the seat out and take it to them it may not be much more than renting a machine to do it.

Re: bench seat smell

Most likely its in the pad, no amount of cleaning will get it out. Unless you submerge it underwater and jump up and down on it with a box of Tide. Then let it dry in 100 degree weather for a month. Pull the cover, run it thru the washer on gentle, replace the pad.
