Power Brake Master Cyl. ?

I have a question for all of you carburator/brake system gurus out there.

The boost vacuum used to come off of a port in one of the runners in the stock 350 manifold (quadrajet). When I went with the edelbrock intake and performer carb, I plumbed it to the big fitting on the back side of the carb. I also installed a new check valve fitting where the hose plugs into the booster.

I was adjusting something the other day with the engine running and noticed brake fluid dripping out of the forward side of the master cyl. It's coming out around the cap at the rate of about 10 drips per minute.

The truck has set for about a year and a half at this point, so did I plumb it wrong or do I need a rebuild kit for the master cyl. or maybe just a gasket for the lid (yeah, right).

Was this right after you hit the brakes?

Mine always drips a little after i fill it up and hit the brakes......i think most of them do. If the brakes work fine, i wouldn't worry about it unless it contiuned to drip while driving the truck with the fluid level below where it should be.

Inspect the rubber gasket too....if it is torn or rotted, it will need replacement.

I am running pretty much the same setup as you edelbrock 1407 and am running the vaccum off of the rear of the carb with no problems. You may have to much fluid in the master cylinder which will cause extra pressure and force the fluid out under the rubber gasket but you have probably already checked for that. You may have to look into rebuilding you cylinder at this point.
