Hello There! First Project...
Hey all - just picked up a 69 C10 Longbed w/ a Muncie 4 speed as a project car for me and my brother to work on. Has the "original" 307 in it - I say "original" because we came to find out while doing a tune up that it is actually a GM Crate motor, most likely replaced sometime within the 5year - 50,000 miles warranty period. (Block has 'CE'xxxxx, where most motors have the first letter of the city in which the block was made stamped on the front). With that said...
Previous owner lowered the springs the 'ol heat-em-up-till-you-like-it method, and I'm doing a complete stock height adjustment to it. Since it's a project on a budget (and the added benefit of me working for the local Autozone) I picked up a cheap/decent set of coils/shocks for just under $200. Anything I should be on the lookout for before I dive in? Any tricks? I really want to restore it to it's original glory, maybe customize later on down the road. Oh - and the tires are 215-70-16. Are these going to look silly with the stock height? I can kind of tell they look too small already, but because it's lowered quite a bit, it fills out the rest of the wheel well. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Here's a picture as she sat the day I bought her: Last edited by SeeTen; 05-12-2012 at 08:17 PM. Reason: Adding pics! |
