85 GMC rebuild and all that

I started rebuilding my 85 GMC. Mainly replacing rusted out body parts and the rotted frame. Hopefully it will be pretty cherry when I get it done.

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

So far I've welded new rockers and inner and outer cab corners on both sides. Put a new inner rocker, floor pan, and a toe board on the driver side. The cab is pretty much done, ready for putty. Hopefully I can get around to dragging my other frame out of the bushes and get it painted this week.

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

Engine before the krylon rebuild. It's a Goodwrench 260 horse crate engine. It took forever to get the oil and mud slime off of it, even after I steam cleaned it.

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

Got the engine accessories all painted up and put on. Cleaned up the transfer case with a wire wheel and got that put on. Right now I've got the front rear torn apart and hopefully I'll get it to the sand blaster next week.

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

I've been slacking off again. I bought a house with a decent size garage so I've been working on moving all my junk over the last month. Hopefully I'll be finished moving stuff by the end of the month.
Today I threw a set of rears under the chassis and got it moved. The brakes were locked up on the back rear, it was a real blast to unload off my trailer...
No new pics yet

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

Between keeping my fleet running and working on stuff around the house, I haven't had much time for this truck. So far I've got the front diff all painted up, still have to put it back together the rest of the way. That's about all I've gotten done in the last few months.

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

Front diff is now under the truck. I'm slowly working on cleaning up the rest of the front end parts.

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

What size lift and tires do you have on the truck? I just ordered a 4" BDS package and 33/12.50/15 BFG A/T K O. Im not trying to go too high but your ride looks pretty good so im curious

Re: 85 GMC rebuild and all that

It has a 6 inch suspension lift from skyjacker. The tires are 37's. You should have plenty of room for 33's with a 4 inch lift.
