Tire size

I have some white painted up rims I am about to wrap some rubber around. They are 15x7 What would be a good size to go with. Stock ride 69 c10. I want the tires to be a little wider. the 15x6 are like pizza cutters with farm style tires. I am wanting to know a good size to go with to get wider look. Thanks in advance!

Re: Tire size

I think 255/70 X 15 is a little big for 15 x 7's and I think work and look better on 15 x 8's.. P235/70R15 work well and look great on 15 x 7's.

Re: Tire size

They look great. 235/70s look nice to. I'd go 255/70s though.

Re: Tire size

275/60s on 8 inch wheel. In the last picture the rear tire is a 255/70 on an 15x7 rally.

Re: Tire size

on 7" wheels - I'd go 235/75/15 (really the best look on a stock steelie, 6" or 7" in my mind) - THIS is what my vote would go for - 255/70/15s would not look right on a whiet steelie to me (and good luck finding anything in that size other than BFG T/A's or a rare old Mastercraft whitewall - blackwalls don't exist that I could find).

on 8" wheels, if you had them - THEN I'd go 255/70/15 (really the best look on an 8" rally in my mind)

Both fill wheelwell nicely. I've got 235/75/15s on 5.5" wheels, and that's pushing it - but they have been just fine. 255/70/15s on 7" wheels would be pushing it also a little bit I believe, but it might work. Would want someone on here to confirm that setup before I bought tires though.

Re: Tire size

I will be getting my tires on Wednesday, so I know the feeling of trying to find which tire for the truck.

Try this link.... http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

I found it very helpful, somebody had posted it on an earlier forum. You can compare the factory size with a size of your choice and see all the specs, including how close you are with the speedometer.

I hope it helps.

Re: Tire size

255/70 on a 7 inch is no where close to pushing it. I ran that set up on my 97 extended cab silverado and it looked great. On 15x8s I always run 275/60s.

Re: Tire size

Im wanting them to look wider then what I have. they are so skinny it annoys me..not so much the front but the back tires sit so far in the wheel well. So Id like pictures if anyone has them. Here is my truck with the tires now..just not the white ones..

Re: Tire size

235/75 x15 is pretty much the modern day equivalent of the stock tire for these trucks. I have run 255/70x15 on 7" wheels and they look and do fine. (7" wide is the narrowest rim recommended) I agree the 255/70 look better on 8" rims, but work and look fine on &". The other nice thing is 255/70 is same height as the stock tires, so your speedo will be running accurately, or at least the same as a 235/75x15.

First picture is 15x7 late model SS truck rims with 255/70
2nd truck is 7" ralleys with 255/70

Not my truck but only ones I can find real quick that I know had that width and tire combo
