On most 9 inch fords there are two bearings. One is much bigger than the other. The easy way to check the bearing needed is to look at the size of the studs holding the backing plates. 1/2" is the big bearing and 3/8 is the small one. This works with axles with up to 33 or 35 splines with most manufactures. When yo go to 40 spline all are the big bearing ends and the bearing has a larger id.
