02 burb won't start

not the first time this has happened. gauges and lights etc. work just won't turn over. the first time it was low on gas and just adding a little gas fixed it.

well right now its showing just a tick under 1/4. im about to go try the gas thing again to see if that fixes it.

if so, are we looking at a fuel pump problem? i've seen things about a passkey this, and security feature that, under hood light being mercury and if parked on a slant will kill the battery, etc.

Is the engine turning over with the starter, Your post is kinda confusing.

sorry. maybe used the term "turn over" wrong!

BUT, 3 gallons of gas seemed to do the trick and it cranked right up. fuel pump problem?

Sounds like a sending unit problem to me. You're showing more gas than you have?

no it shows the correct amount of gas. just odd that a smidge under 1/4 and this happens. but i put in 3 more gallons and BAM, it works.

for the fuel pump usually it wont start the first time. cycle key and it starts second time means fuel pump is going bad........gauges start showing false readings, had a 01 that ya put a full tank in it and still show empty!

hmm. well it wouldn't start any time. would just sit there and sound like it was going to crank and nothing. tried it numerous time to no avail. but then i put the gas in and it started right up.

Re: 02 burb won't start

Sounds like these things have some type of fuel pump issues. I test drove a 2001 Tahoe yesterday that just shut off while I was driving it. Sales guy thought it was gas and put a few gallons in it and it still didn't start. Then they thought it was the alternator, not. They had to tow it back. They finally concluded that it was the fuel pump. I'm thinking about getting an older Tahoe now.

It's funny. I usually hang out in the 60-66 thread where we talk about restoring, modifying and identifying stuff. This forum seems to deal with alot more problem related content. Makes me wonder.
