New member with a new truck

I'm relatively new to the board and have always loved these trucks. I learned how to drive on a 1967 C20 4-speed that is long gone. I just purchased this 1970 C10 from a guy in Benton, Kansas. Truck showed up on a carrier a couple weeks ago and it appears to be in fine condition. She coughed some blue smoke the first couple times I started her, but after regular driving for a couple weeks, that problem seems to have gone away for the time being. I think this thing sat around for a long time without seeing much driving.

On the off chance any members are familiar with this particular vehicle or its history, please let me know. Seller did not have any specifics on its restoration. It may have come from St. Louis.

My plans include a disc brake conversion and I was wondering if anyone knew whether these wheels would be compatible with 12" rotors...I suspect not, in which case I will be looking for a set of wheels that ARE compatible while still maintaining the rally wheel appearance. Any recommendations on specific rims would be welcome.

Thanks!

My attempt to include a link to some photos:

Welcome!

I can't seem to view the flickr photos from my computer, but what color is it? Engine, trans?

Gold/white, 350, automatic, looks like someone did a frame off restoration a few years ago, except for the trans, which is pretty old and grimy looking, unlike the rest of it, which is beautiful.

Re: New member with a new truck

I was just wondering because Benton is just on the north side of Wichita. There is a guy over there that sells classic cars and goes to Barrett-Jackson and other auctions and then resells them. I haven't seen that truck, but some other members might have some insight into it.

Sounds like a nice ride though.
