i hate theives!!!

As some of you know i am a police officer.
well last night i had to recover a stolen 1967 c/10 saddest thing i had to do was tell the owner
it took 3 wreckers to get it since the s.o.b. that stole it cut it up into much smaller peices.
the frame was in one spot the cab another the bed in another and the motor was a ways away under another tree.
the sad part was it was a perfect rust free cab, bed, doors and fenders. it had a new motor, trany, rear and radiator.
it tears me up to have to report a tragic death of one of our trucks like this. needless to say the owner is in for a real shock when he gets to the wrecker yard,i didnt have the heart to tell him about the carnage i had found, all i could tell him it was severly stripped. the truck was in primer and didnt have a dent in it. heck the sterring wheel, which i found on another part of the property, was in near mint condition.

well the cab floor is still good, but they torched the top off of it,i think if the owner gets it back he will need a cab for sure,i tried to locate all the pieces of it to make sure all gets back to the owner. i spent 3 hours looking for all the parts.

i just hope the person who had done this gets what they deserve.

sorry to ramble but i just wanted you oklahoma memebers, around norman, to know there may be some good parts coming up or a person may be in need of a cab.

is there anyway you could get the owner to describe some of the more unusual parts that were stolen? that way, if any of us discover some of those parts for sale around your area, we might be able to catch that theif?

have you told the owner about this board? i certainly hope so! we would be glad to send help his way! what an aweful thing to happen!

just tryin to help!

Unhappy

That is one sad story!

As much as you like trucks it must have been hard on you as well as the owner.

Thats just wrong......why were the torching the body? Wouldn't the body panels be worth more whole and not cut up?

Why couldn't they have done that to a honda

i found all the parts but the carpet, and i have no idea why they were cutting on the cab.
also it was an anony tip that led me to it,but i didnt have anyone to put in jail over it right now.

it was weird how they were cutting the cab they started at the top and sliced the middle out and the sides around the back glass.
oh yeah it was a small back glass truck. dunno unless it was a revenge thing or they were gonna try and sell the parts, but i have no clue as to what they were doing.

That really hacks me! I worry about my truck getting stolen every time I drive into Tulsa. Of course I don’t have to worry too much right now because it's torn apart to the frame, but I'll start again soon. I feel for the guy.

I used to have a 54 chevy. Mustang II, 383 stroker with dual quads, th400... Nice truck. I left it at work and it was stolen. I didn't know for about a week it was even missing. A friend who works in Grand Rapids ( about 40 miles away) told me there was a truck that looked just like mine sitting along the express way. I said its not mine. Mine is at work. Anyhow, I went and checked on it and it was mine! Seems the crooks ran out of gas and left it sitting there. Those dual quads sure would suck up the gas! LOL
Bad thing was I had to pay the wrecker bill to get it back. I was never even notified that it had been picked up. Other than the tow bill and needing some gas, it was fine. At least the crook took care of mine.

Thats my stolen truck story. Dan

Hey Jed, I guess the parts weren't found at any particular residence? Somebody just hacked the truck into pieces and then just dumped everything in an empty field? Being a police officer must have SOME perks...like, "OOPS! sorry! My baton slipped!" and, "Watch your head when getting into the back seat, WHOOOPS! Sorry! Wow! That dent in your head is bigger than the one you put on that hood!"

I say we round up a posse and go on a man hunt. When we find him we can beat however much money was in that truck out of him, then beat him some more for making us suffer the loss of one of our great trucks.

Sounds like either revenge or someone high on drugs and not having a clue.

Guys, as a former cop I know how hard it is to keep from wanting to beat someone to a pulp. And it ain't like it was when I was a kid and it was expected for a cop to administer some justice. That all started to change in the sixties when all the liberal judges were appointed. In todays world, an officer doesn't dare even think about it, or he will be gone.

First, thanks to you sgted for your efforts.
Second, when/if you catch the sob, pepper spray him, then after the paramedics treat him for it, wait till they leave, then spray him again! Also, while transporting him to jail ( hopefully you have cages in your cars) make sure you do periodic brake checks so he slams into the cage a few times.

well good thing is it was behind a residence and all but its gonna take time to find out who did this. just too bad no one was at home and i will just leave that at that

like it was said before,i realy have to bite my lip to keep from going off on some people and cant do what i please to them.
the courts will more than likley make the person who did this repay the value of the truck. bad thing to that is the court will value it at maybe 500 to 1000 bucks and the crook will have a slap on the hand. this is the world we live in anymore no one is held to what they do anymore.

Did you ever talk to the owner? Curious about his take on this and if he thinks he knows who did it.
