Unhappy fuel gauge question

Guys,

The fuel gauge on my 78 4X4 has been doing some weird stuff lately. Alright i got dual tanks on it but sometimes like yesterday i went and filled my right tank up. And when i got back in the truck and turned the key to start it the gauge only moved like an 1/8 of a tank and then stopped. But the thing is when i was offroading and the truck was bouncing around it it went up to almost full and stayed there like it was apost to. And last night it went down again and i was out messing around in my truck and i revved up the motor and dropped the clutch and when the rpms started to get to about 4000 the gas gauge went back up to 3/4 of a tank. I am very confused on whats going on with this thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank Ya,
Mike

Sounds like a grounding issue. Usually a totally loose ground will automatically peg over to the 3'oclock position. You might check your grounds on the tank senders also check for any loose connections there. If that doesn't help may be a bad sender.
