Any thing is possible even if your "handicapable"

i'm mainly on the 60-66 forums.Just thought i share this story. went to buy some 64 parts, from this gentleman. we got around to talking about 4x4's.He told me how he was in a terrible accident & was confined to a wheel chair, but after years of therapy perseverance he got a good deal of his movement back.He can stand for a bit. he's got use of both arms 1 hand some on the other. To make a long story short. His dad bought him a 70 LWB 4/4 ton. They both wrenched on it, they put a hydralic lift to get him in the cab, welded a foot step so it looks like it bolted to the cab, welded up some controls for gas, brake & it has a "CLUTCH". He drives it on weekends does a little 4 wheeling too.
This really goes to show if you really want it bad enough anything is possible.

That is a good story and I hope he keeps on with it.It's nice to hear people like that can enjoy life no matter what is thrown at them.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

That is an awesome story. Can't nothing stop a man from driving his CHEVROLET. Thank you for sharing that really inspires me to not give up wrenchin on my old beater.

My dad has Parkinsons disease goin on about 12yrs now and he still watches over me and teaches me how to fix things on my truck. I couldn't fix my truck without him. Take all I can learn from him wheather its on the truck or life in general.

Cool story, goes to show what can be acomplished if you don't give up when it looks rough. Nice truck too, love those aluminum slots and that step deal is pretty ingenius. My dad could use one of those to get in his truck. He's not disabaled but has a hard time getting up there due to his age. Thanks for sharing that!

Re: Any thing is possible even if your "handicapable"

Very very very cool! It's amazing what someone can do no matter what cards are dealt. About 7 years ago I was in a bad 4 wheeler crash leaving me with two broken legs and in a wheel chair for almost six months. I have a great respect for anyone who is in a chair.

Re: Any thing is possible even if your "handicapable"

That's a cool story...Thanks for sharing.

My good friend and hunting partner is a paraplegic. He has a Dodge Ram 2500 extended cab with a lift inside the drivers door. He sits on it and it brings him up level with the driver seat. He has hand controls for the throttle and brake. He is the least hadicapped person I have ever known. He inspires me every day.
