I have a few questions about front sway bars for our trucks and the rear IROC sway bars.

First, if I grab a front sway bar off a 75 Chevy for example, would I need to buy new bushings for a 75, or a 72, or are they both the same? Also, can I get all new brackets, including the ones that bolt to the frame brand new, or can I reuse the old ones if they aren't too rusty, and if I can get them new, about how much and where?

For the rear IROC bar, what else would I need to remove off the Camaro to put it onto my truck, and what will I need to buy new for it?

Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to leave any parts behind that might be hard to get later when I find these in the salvage yards.

Re: front swaybar.

The bushings are sold based on bar diameter, not year of application. So if you tell them 72 or 75 or 80, etc they will still want to know diameter. You can buy these at any parts store

The clamps that hold the bushings will proably be junk but you can get them thru a chevy dealer. They are the same for 73-up as they are for 67-72.

The bracket that is on the frame is a question mark to me. thought you could not get them new, but I've since read you could. So I'm not sure. I'd grab it them with the swaybar if possible. They are riveted on so bring a smoke wrench with you.

I believe all years up thru 87 are interchangeable. I have a sway bar but no brackets. If you can find the frame brackets and want to swing buy, you can have the bar cheap.

Thanks, I'll be heading to a yard in Belmont over the weekend, I'll see what I can find there, hopefully I'll get lucky. If not, I'll be looking in the yards in Michigan while I'm at college for the next three months, but my friend is also looking for the same, so if I don't find anything, I'll tell him to look while I'm gone. What size bar do you have?

It looks like Early Classic does carry the frame mount brackets. They have them for stock and lowered trucks for $19.00 a pair. Sounds better to me then trying to tear the old ones off, sandblast and paint them, and then put them back on. Thanks for the help everyone.

EDIT-

Low69CST's site shows the Camaro bar brackets welded in, but I noticed someone said they made it a bolt in. Can someone fill me in on how that was done, and how much harder it would be? Also, if the truck was stock, then lowered at some later point, would that screw up the points where the brackets mount to the frame, or could I just get shorter end links?

I think it's a 3/4 ton version as that is what most of the trucks I parted that had them were.

The 3/4 tons came with either 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" right?

The brackets that are riveted to the frame are available at your local GM dealer, part number 6271375. It was just under $20 without tax. If you're at a yard, grab an extra set (4) bushing clamp mounting bolts when you get the bar, as they should be grade 8, suitable for suspension work.

The Rear bars are bolt-in on the cameros, but their axles are smaller diameter. Just get some larger(3") heavy duty u-bolts and saddles and you can bolt to truck axle. As for lowering it would just be the end links and all you would have to do is cut down the spacer.

That depends on what year truck the swabar came out of.
I have 2 sway bars that are 1 1/16 and 0ne that is 1 3/16.
