Is this rearview mirror correct ?

Hey guys, This mirror was in my truck when i got it. ( not installed, on the floor ) and wanted to know if this is a correct , genuine GM part for my 68 SWB Chevy and not an autozone , pepboys rear view mirror. Also does this goes screwed onto the the top of the cabin or glued to the windshield ?

Re: Is this rearview mirror correct ?

That mirror's swivel arm and the boot that covers where it attaches to the inside roof of the cab look exactly like the rear view mirror in my 67 cab and all the roof mount ones I've seen in junkyards.

I'm sure someone will chime in with the exact years that had roof mounted and windshield mounted rear view mirrors but I do know that the cab roof mounted were the earlier style (67-?) and stuck to the windshield was the later style (?-72)so for your 68 it s probably correct.

As far as I know '67-'71 rear view mirrors were mounted to the roof of the cab with that bracket you have, and '72 they were mounted directly to the windshield.

I can't vouch for authenticity, but this is mine and where it mounts (I assume with all the "patina", that it's original):

Re: Is this rearview mirror correct ?

Thank you for the replies.

It appears the 67-71 had 2 kind of brackets

http://www.classicindustries.com/tru...ts/cx1056.html ( rubber )

http://www.classicindustries.com/tru...ts/cx1055.html ( Chrome Metal )

and the 72 was glued to the window. Thanks guys!

Wink Re: Is this rearview mirror correct ?

I'm not sure of all the years but I do know that is a stock mount and mirror for a 71 Custom Deluxe Chevy truck. That is the exact mirror and mount I had in mine until I swapped it for the late model temperature one.

I used the cover to hide the holes after installing the late model mirror.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
