To paint or not???
Man i love this site i could stay on it all day and night learning from you guys. I recently was handed down this 66 lwb truck. And love it so far. I had to remove a tool box and a headache rack from it and the trashed out carpet. I ready to dive into a cool build for this truck. My question to all your hot rodders is what if any paint colors would look good on this ole betty? I really like flat black or white or should i just leave it like it is.. I'm going to static drop it as far as i can go then eventually run bags and white walls..What u guys think? Also anyone good with photoshop and able to slam my truck to the ground with some white walls that would be awesome.
Thanks for the help, lwb66 |

Re: To paint or not???
Color is such a personal thing, I think you should do whatever you like best. All of my own cars and trucks have been black, but it's certainly not for everyone.

I like it how it is. Why does it need to be lowered?

Re: To paint or not???
Go cheap, go green, you're done. Besides, the 4 million other guys with flat black trucks and wide whites might not like you stealing their idea. lol
Here's a pic of a longbed that forum member way2lo2 was selling not too long ago. I love the sinister look of the solid color with black wheels/tires and poverty caps. Pretty much what you have now! I think your rig looks awesome as is. Nothing wrong with a truck that looks like a truck. Last edited by oem4me; 05-23-2012 at 06:42 PM. |

Re: To paint or not???
Since you plan on slamming it, I say leave it as it is. I think the black rims will look good. Since it looks like a darker green, maybe chrome the front?

Re: To paint or not???
I would leave it... Slam it and see what it looks like. You can always decide to paint it later. But the patina looks awesome to me

Re: To paint or not???
First, are you going to do the body work? (I see it needs lower fenders, can't tell what else)
If you are going to do the body work, it will end up different colors anyway, and you will eventually need to paint it. If your not going to bother, and just lower/drive it, then leave the color alone. And to all the guys saying not to lower it....its not a 4x4, and its not exactly rare....are yall 65 or something?

Re: To paint or not???
Dont touch it..... people at cruze-ins and shows will lean up against 50,000 dollar cars and take pictures of original, faded paint.... seen it happen too many times.

Re: To paint or not???
Guys- Thanks for all the replies.. I think everyone is right and just leave the color alone. Truck body is actually in good shape most of the dents i was able to just get underneath and pop out with my hand for the most part. FURRYDICE79 thanks for the slammed pics , seeing it green and lowered makes me want to do it even more.. So stay tuned i will post some pics once the work begins..

Re: To paint or not???
If it were me I'd leave the original paint. That's not something you can get from a can unless you have years of experience airbrushing, and even then you can tell it's not original.
As for lowering it, it's your truck. do what you like. I personally think leaving it as is screams "Class" whereas lowering it screams "I'm 16 yrs old look at me dawg, gnome-sayin". They just look broken lowered. My 2 cents |
