tire advice?

im looking for a new set of rubber for my 72 1/2 ton chevy, with all the posts that are on tire websites i dont seem to get a recomendation i could use. I keep getting "they look cool". thats a small part of it though.what im looking for is a 33 or 35x12.5x15,im not rich, dont want to have to turn up the radio to try to kill road noise(not that i couldnt),a decent tire should run around $200. ea? and maybe a mildly agressive tread. Any info you could share would be helpful....thank you

I've always had good luck with BFG ATs, I'm running their 35" MTs on my truck right now and there quite and ride nice.

First let me ask if your truck is lifted. You could probably get by with no lift (or a 2.5" lift) with 33" tires, but going to 35s will require a 4" lift.

Also, what type of use do you expect they'll get?

I would take a serious look at Hercules trail digger, very good tires.

My brother has had bfg at on his f150 for 5 years and loves them,They are kinda quiet for a truck tire and do good all around from snow to light off roading.

If your truck is close to my 76, it will not require a lift to run 35s. The only thing is the front of the fenders will require a little trimming, but if yours are like mine and all body filler, they trim themselves.

I am never putting a lift on my truck.

it does have a 6" lift on it, fitting isnt a problem. my only issue with running anything bigger than a 33 is that a few years ago,the three studs that hold the pitman arm to the steering knuckle sheered off at the knuckle.1 was broken for a long time and another was half broke for probably the same amt. of time. when tyhe last one completlely broke that was a scary moment. I was doing 50 mph!...had the knucke machined and bought new studs, but its always in the back of my mind.

ive got a 72 with a 6" lift, they'll fit..its the extra stress on the steering componets that iam concerned about.

I just bought Goodyear Duratracs for my suburban with a 6" lift. The tires are 33x12.5x15 and they were $196 thru Americas Tires. Awesome tires! They're a severe weather tire. Great in snow and on ice. I'll post up a picture soon.

IMO, a 33" tire will look too small with a 6" lift, so between your two sizes, I'd go with 35s.

Take a look at General Grabber AT2. Nearly everything I have read about them is good, and they are less expensive than BFG ATs. They are slightly less aggressive but get good reviews.
