Bought a new tank...how do you remove filler neck from stock tank? Removed the 2 nuts but now what/how? I'm referring to the piece that is attached to tank that is different on the replacement tanks.

You have to bring it to a radiator shop and get them to un-solder the neck from your old tank, un-solder the neck from the new tank, and re-solder the old neck to the new tank.

I got my radiator shop to coat the inside while they were at it.

new tanks don't have the long curved neck like the old tanks... they just have a short little stub. original neck goes around the one body mount, short and stubby goes right into it. some folks have tried a rubber hose to go around the mount, but it tends to kink... not good having a kink in your hose.

Hmm.. that must mean the old rusty one I pulled off mine was not original. It had a stub. Just like the new one I got. They had a tube coming off the stub to a curved metal peice and then rubber hose going to bed side filler. Think I will just put it back like that!

Yes, i agree. It may be a better solution for those going the soldering route, to just cut off your existing neck and connect it with your hose to you new tank! Looks like what was probably done to mine.

Instead of soldering it, just cut the neck off the old one and trim down the new one, and just cut about a 1-2" hose section and use two clamps to combine the two pieces.
Works fine , havent had any problems.

Good idea ajax...wish I would have thought of that before I had a shop swap necks.
