Found an old Suburban used by Canadian Park Rangers!
I bought this '66 Sub and it actually belonged to Parks Canada originally! I would really like to restore it to original paint scheme and find the correct decals for the doors that would have been used during that time period.
Mind you I plan to bag it and throw some 22/24's on it. but I would really like to put the correct Parks Canada decals back on, bringing it some former glory. she sure is rotten, and I am not sure how I am gonna fix the fenders as I can't seem to find any reproduction fleetside bedsides.. just a few patch panels.. I am new the the 60-66 side of things, geez for them 67+ years you can get any sheet metal you want! I was told this truck was in service in the Banff/Jasper park area, colours seem right and the doors did have big decals on them at one time, which are sanded off. there are some parks canada sickers on the door windows, so I do think the previous owner was on the up and up. but I really am having a hard time tracking down photos so I can get the decals right (when I get to this project in a few years!) Can't wait to get on this project! sure hope it's not too far gone to restore, once I get into it (picked it up for only $250, so no real loss) I sure am gonna have to do a lot of research, I have no idea where to find suburban parts and seats for this thing!?

yea, they are inside, not the greatest shape, both will need skins and bottoms most likely..

Not a bad score! Looks better than what I started with, LOL! But here in the Midwest, we have 2 options- rusted, or REALLY RUSTED.

Cool project. Finding all the seats is tough. Just so happens TWO full sets are for sale in the 60-66 parts section of this forum, last I checked. Who knows when that'll happen again. Have fun!

Re: Found an old Suburban used by Canadian Park Rangers!
fenders are no problem , and hopefully the rear panels from a fleet side will work with some modification .. more than one person has done burbs like yours , should be some threads to go off ......

Re: Found an old Suburban used by Canadian Park Rangers!
well this is all some good encouraging news regarding parts, I don't need to bring the interior back to full stock, but it would be nice to have a few original appointments like the seats.
the interior has more dents then the outside, so I think I am gonna invest in a good stud welder/puller for this one! I've tried contacting Parks Canada regarding the logos for the doors, but if I have no luck with them I may just improvise or make my own rendition. I think it would be an interesting piece of history to put the right logo back on the door. I sure hope I can save this truck, the firewall sure is rusted out quite high up! are the window latches easy to find?

I don't think that they will let you run gov't logo's on your truck

Re: Found an old Suburban used by Canadian Park Rangers!
Nice Beaver!, Do they have a logo from the 60's that is no longer used that would clearly show the truck is more of a tribute than an imposter? I know someone on this site did that with an old US Forest Service truck. It looks cool and no one would mistake it for an "in use" vehicle.
