Someone please, help with advice
Long story short, I took worn out parts off my engine for replacing and painting.
Installed new waterpump, fan clutch, power steering pump, tune up, antifreeze. Did me disconnecting fuel filter line from carb, and not plugging hose cause the fuel pump to go bad? My passenger tank is overfilled, poured three spray can tops of gas in carb, still no start. I've double checked distributor cap and firing order is right. What am I missing/doing wrong here? If I dissconect fuel filter line at carb, and run it to a bottle how much gas is it supposed to be getting so I know its the pump? (meaning if it's a little, the pump is not working right. What exactly should I do when I do this, will it trash my carb turning key without fuel filter/pump being connected to carb. Truck sounds like it wants to start, but is out of gas. Forgot to add, truck has been sitting with no start for nine months. Is it possible that the tank switch in cab is on the driver tank? And I don't know what tank the switch is on, because the piece that goes around it and tells you is long missing and the buttom is not on lower dash but hanging on floor. Battery is new. 1984 swb 305 edelbrock 4 barrel carb 1406 Dual exhaust Dual tanks, driver side bypassed Sincere appreciation and thanks for reading/giving advice to a noob, lol. Try some ether in the carb, it still won't fire up I'd say your problem is with the wiring.

^Thanks for the reply.
I ran fuel filter line to a liter bottle, turned the key and maybe a tablespoon of gas got thru. Not to mention my fuel assembly line is trashed from what looks like someone pinched it with a pilars. Looks enough like a brake line can a brake line be modded to use as this? My thoughts are fuel pump, but could it also be the fuel filter? Posted via Mobile Device |

First. As advised, when you squirt fuel or ether in carb does the engine fire? If not check and make sure your getting fire to all cylinders. If the engine fires or trys to then go after fuel delivery. You can first disconnect intake fuel line to fuel pump and take a hose from the pump to an alternate fuel container. ie. coffee can or the like. Crank engine, if fuel comes out in a steady stream reconnect to tank. If fuel delivery drops off the problem is from your tank or tanks to fuel line. If it never pumped with the alternate source then it is the pump or the line after the pump. Mechanical pump should at least deliver 5 to 7 pounds fuel pressure. Good luck. Oh, fuel lines should never be kinked or replaced with anything other than lines designned for fuel delivery.

IMO. you should be getting more than a tablespoon. That may be ok if it came out with some oomph behind it, and it pumped only once. If it pumped multiple times and that's all you got start shopping.
If it's the steel line that's trashed, then yes you can use steel brake line.
