Engine chokes down when sitting.

I went out last Thursday and the truck ran fine on the way to where I was going. When I left an hour later it kept trying to shut down whenever I would come to a redlight. I pulled the spark plugs the other day and they look fine as well as the wires. I also noticed the exhaust smell is a lot stronger when it chokes down. When I first start the truck it runs fine but as soon as I tap the gas it chokes down. I also could not find a fuel leak anywhere. It is a 350 with an Edlebrock 600cfm electric choke carb. Thanks for the help guys and here's a video I made as well.

Re: Engine chokes down when sitting.

Several things to look at. First is the idle adjustment and/or the idle air mixture screws to make sure they're adjusted correctly. I'm not familiar with your carb but there should be a preliminary setting for the idle air mixture screws.

Double check the timing and I noticed that you have to pump the pedal to get it started every time. Once the engine is warmed up and if everything is adjusted correctly you shouldn't have to pump the pedal to restart it right away. There cold be a blockage inside the carb and it may need a good cleaning.
