Coil springs?
I was installing my new exhaust today and noticed that my rear coil springs have three of the coils touching together. Is this normal or are the springs really weak and sitting on each other. I have a 72 long bed 1/2 ton. I realize the springs are 40 years old so Im guessing they are worn out.

Re: Coil springs?
Handmedown: i think you are right, or someone has heated them to make it set lower. if it rides ok and you like the ride height ,changing them would be up to you....

Re: Coil springs?
They could've been heated, or they could just be tired heavy duty springs. The HD springs have 3 coils that are closer together in the middle. The ones I removed from my '67 were factory HD springs, and although they weren't touching I could see how it would be possible.
