Tranny clunk

This is a question for all TH700 owners. When I have the tranny in D and it downshifts to 1st, it clunks. In OD it doesn't do it. Is this normal?

Also, when I put it in reverse (sometimes not even in gear or OD & D) it has a whine/cracking noise to it. I have inspected the flexplate and have found no cracks. anyone have an idea what this might be? It has been doing it for about a year.

Don't know about the noise going into reverse. My Blazer also clunks when downshifting to first and in D. Tranny guru who rebuilt mine said it's normal for our year of 700's. I asked him to change it and he said he couldn't, IIRC he said something about the casting.
