Power Steering Question
There is a truck for sale here locally that is an 89 GMC half-ton has a blown up 350 but has the power steering and everything and was not sure if those brackets, pump, and steering box would go over to my 66 with the factory 327. What all would I need and how much of a task would it be to make it power steering if it would even work? thanks.

Re: Power Steering Question
Check that its earlier then an 89. It is the body style before the 88-99

Re: Power Steering Question
The '68-'87 truck power steering box is what is used to convert to power steering on the '60-'67 trucks. If this truck is the '87 and earlier 2wd 'Squarebody' truck, that will have some of what you need. You will need the steering box with the pitman arm, the power steering pump, and possibly the hoses. The brackets on that pump will not work on your 327 unless someone has changed it to a long water pump. If it still has the correct short water pump, you will need the power steering pump brackets for a '72 and older truck or a '68 and older car. You will also need the extra crank pulley to drive the power steering pump. Then to mount the steering box, you will need an adapter plate such as the one I sell.
If your truck doesn't already have front disc brakes, this truck would be a good donor for that as well.

Re: Power Steering Question
That depends on what water pump is on the 327 in your truck. The '72 and earlier trucks and '68 and earlier cars with a small block originally came with a short water pump. All small blocks after those years were long water pumps. The accessory brackets and pulleys between the short water pumps and long water pumps do not interchange. It is possible that your 327 has had a long water pump installed by a previous owner, I have seen it several times. If you're not sure what you have post a pic.
