Re: Old school sounds

my 78 they way i got it
guess it's safe to post my "old" radio here
had it for years, worked fine just quit one day
seems it was the plug, not the radio, and i still have a case of old tapes
friends thought i'm nuts, but it did cd's too
lol now i am get to try them in the 79's radio

my Dad has 78's.
I got most on mp3 files for him now on CD,
only to have him say now he dosn't want the 78s anymore,
sister told him, somebody will buy them,
yup maybe 50 cents each record,at a used record place,
told him to keep them, and we put them away
i actually still have the two album cases he gave me to try and play...

and then there are the 33's and 45's to play with
these days it's 303's and 45's lol
then you get the record!

Re: Old school sounds

Your right about the digital... When I record the vinyl if I use any of the tools that they have for cleaning up the sound it will get digital and canned sounding..I don't mind hearing a couple crackels and pops..

What about the reverb , the echo made it sound like u were in a cave. But girls thought it was hot.

I'm 44 and know that song. My Dad had that album, one whole side of a 78 was that song. Loved to play that on my parents old furniture style record player.

I might have to see if he still has that stuff. He use to have an old under dash 8 track player. Might have to find it and some of their old Elvis tapes. Makes me smile to bring back those memories from my childhood.

Yea, you know yer getting old when instead of replacing the radio, you have a mp3 player adapter stuck into a cassette adapter, stuck into an 8 Track adapter.....Yer radio sticks clean out to the seat... And best yet, you also have an FM converter, with an Audiovox signal booster hooked into that!! But it's not complete until you are pumping it all thru your Gen-U-whine Surface Mounted 6X4 Kraco truck speakers... HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

And when you were not in the mood for refreshing tunes, you could jump on your Brand New 23 channel Pierce-Simpson CB !!

Re: Old school sounds

Speaking of old school, does anyone know what a "reverberator" is? I have read that it is a device that when installed in a vehicle with rear speakers, it delays the music slightly to give a stereo effect. Is this accurate? I have seen these at car shows in older pontiac's but I never heard one.
