Body Lift
Was considering getting a 3" body lift. Does anyone have any advice on this? Are they easy on our trucks? Anything to look out for?

Re: Body Lift
A lot of folks on here are not very fond of them. I don't see a problem but hen my truck is not nearly as nice as some of these rigs. Maybe that's why. You will have other issues as well as the lift. Linkage to the tranny, fan shroud to fan misalignment, and don't forget the steering shaft to box length, and stock bumper height. It's pretty easy to do. One man job really. I already had it on my truck and many things were already fixed for it. I just installed new urethane bushings under it. I was going to take it out but I was able to stuff my oversize (40 gallon) tank up under the bed much further with it on. Sure makes reaching things that you normally could not much easier too. My kit seems to be homemade but it was free! It's raining like crazy right now or I would post some embarrassing pics.lol

Re: Body Lift
I say go for it but stick with a reputable kit. Don't go hack with hockey pucks and stuff like that. I say if you need a bit more clearance, the body lift is a good choice. The stuff mentioned above are easy fixes too.... the trans linkage is a simple piece that you weld in to make it longer which comes with any good kit, the bumpers aren't bad in the stock location but if you want them moved, that's easy too. The fan should can be a pain but you always have the option to remove the fan completely and go electric. As far as stress on the truck, a 2-3" body lift will be just fine.

Re: Body Lift
Only thing to watch out for is the hidden nuts in the cab floor breaking off inside, other than that check for fan clearance(had to trim mine w/2") and the ground wire from the engine to firewall may have to either have be lengthened or relocated lower on the firewall.

Re: Body Lift
I put a 3" on mine and had nothing but trouble so far, but the underside of my truck is nice and rusty. I've broken 2 cab braces and dislocated 3 of the nuts for the cab bolts. Now when I go around turns I can feel my cab shift on my frame. It's starting to get pretty scary, getting some floor pans and braces soon and chopping it all up again. It was easy to put on though and looks good. Just do it right the first time, unlike what I did.
