Rear Differential Type?

Hey,

I'm having a problem figuring out what type of differential is on my 66 Chevy C30, I don't think it's DANA as it's round like a circle bubble shape, and I believe it's the C axle, but, I'm not too sure, I have a picture of it if looking at it can show you what it is.

Hopefully you guys can help me figure out what type of rear differential this is so I can buy a ring and pinion for it and have it thrown in by a pro.

Thanks.

Re: Rear Differential Type?

In a C30 that would be the Eaton HO72. You are not going to find a new ring and pinion for that differential....they are not made. If the current ring and pinion is bad, I would plan on changing the complete rear end for either a Dana 70 or a 10.5 14 bolt. You can get parts for those easily, and you have a good selection of gear ratios to choose from. With the Eaton HO52/72 the highest gears you will be able to find used are 4.10's. Most of the C20 came with 4.57 gears and some of the C30's had 5.13 gears. Neither of which are what you would call highway friendly. My '66 C30 has a Dana 70 from a F@&#
