2004r replace a 350 in a 4x4?
I have 1987 4 x 4 with a 305/350 trans combo will a 2004r (Bowtie Trans) replace the 350? The 350 is 5/16" longer than the 200r4
ON THE SITE BELOW http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...350C.2C_TH375B I found TH2004R The TH2004R transmission is the same length as a 6 inch tail housing TH350 transmission. The TH2004R requires a TV cable hook up at the EFI or carb with the correct geometry for correct operation --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY PAN IS #4 Image Number Transmission(s) Pan Bolts 1 Aluminum Powerglide 14 2 TH200 (Metric), TH200C (Metric) 11 3 TH250, TH250C, TH350, TH350C, TH375B 13 4 TH375C, TH400, TH475, 3L80, 3L80HD 13 5 TH200-4R 16 6 TH700-4R, 4L60, 4L60E 16 7 4L80E 17 Are the splines the same ? Will the 2004r being 5/16" shorter present a problem? Has anyone done this swap ? If so any bits of info will help thanks

Re: 2004r replace a 350 in a 4x4?
The 200 does not have a removable extension housing so a transfer case could not be bolted up to it. Your truck should have came from the factory with a 700r4 so it must have been swapped out at some time. And if you have pan #4 you have a TH400

Re: 2004r replace a 350 in a 4x4?
Also the bolt pattern on your transfer case will be different from the th350. 6bolts on the 400 and 4 on the 350. Some th400 setups had the 203 case. Not as good as the 205. If you post a pic we can tell you what you have. If you have the 203 you may want to change the whole setup. The 203 has a chain and the 205 is gear to gear. I have a built 700r4 into a 203 ORD splitter and then 205. This has not failed for ten years and two accidents.:-(----

What is an ORD splitter? Is it similar to the Ranger splitter or Gear Vendors? |

Re: 2004r replace a 350 in a 4x4?
Off Road Design. They make a kit that uses the gear section of the 203 case and mounts it to the front the 205 case so it gives you another low gear for crawling. With the 700r4 you have to get a output shaft that has the th350 spline. Then you have overdrives and underdrives. WOO HOO! And you can still burn 36" tires! Expensive though.
