truck makes a grinding sound when accelrating to highway speed

it only does it at high speed, oil pressure is real good so not the motor, however i fear that maybe the th350 is finally giving up after being behind the 454 . could it be the transmisson it makes a weird grinding noise

certainly. Pull the trans dipstick and smell the trans fluid... if it smells burnt, that means your friction plates in the trans are slipping and it's shot.
