Re: 73-87 Square Body Calendar - Nominate your favorites!

OK. Calendar is complete. It is available in premium and standard sizes. The premium is a bit larger and has glossy paper. (but it costs a bit more)

Please look at your truck carefully and try to make sure I got the right names with the right photographs. There is still time to fix them. It's late, and I have been looking at these for quite some time this weekend...

You can purchase the premium edition which is larger (13.5"x19") and the photos are a heavier glossy paper. It is $27.00.
http://www.lulu.com/content/legacy-l...ition/12899519

OR ... The calendar is also available in it's standard form (11"x17") for $16.19 In an effort to keep costs down for you, the smaller calendars are not available in the glossy finish, but they are in a matte finish.

http://www.lulu.com/shop/jeff-goddar...-20136492.html

I just published them online, so the previews may not be up yet. If not, give it about an hour.

kinda bummed that people couldn't take the time to move their trucks off their driveways for a better pic. but overall the calendar still rocks.

hmm... I just tried a few options. It seems like they are easier to read on the standard calendar. If you click on preview it opens up a pop up preview, then on the bottom, click "full screen mode". I can read it when it is like that. It is still tiny... but it is somewhat legible.

It's cool though. Now that guys know we will be doing these on a regular basis, they will start to get creative with their photography. I have a feeling, we have started to raise the bar on the idea of "taking pics of your truck"
Your pics came out unbelievable. Magazine quality!

No worries, these have had a good response. We will definitely do them again. I really like everybody having a shot at them. Nice truck!

I was actually surprised at how many did submit non-driveway pics, I would say a good better than half of the calendar shots were pretty artistic, or at least a parking lot with a view, such as Vegas80step, if he would have taken 2 steps to the left and gotten Staples out of the shot, that is a great landscape behind the lot, or Chromaholic, while it is a driveway shot, it is a very tidy driveway with neutral tones that complement the truck's paint scheme, or Keith Seymore's truck, again a driveway shot, but when you look at that truck in all it's bone stock fresh off the assembly line glory, beside that clean but modest house, you can't help but think that is exactly how it would have looked 25 years ago when he drove it home for the first time .

I do agree though, I think it should be a "suggestion" that the pictures not be simple driveway shots, unless the shot just comes out great and works like a few did. Challenge the guys to go out and take them at neat locations, awesome landscapes, heck even a dirty junkyard makes a great picture opportunity, kind of a diamond in the rough look, just hop out and snap a pic as you're hauling some junk to the dump.

I'm not saying I'm any better, I'm far from a photographer, but I just happened to snap a decent picture while playing with some filter settings on my camera phone. I have since bought a DSLR, and I'm learning so beware

Re: 73-87 Square Body Calendar - Nominate your favorites!

As for my driveway shot.....this is the only pics I have of the truck which at the time was not running so it had to be pushed out of the garage for the picture. At this very moment the truck is in 10,000 pieces in my buddies hotrod shop and I didn't think a picture of a bunch of boxes would make the calendar either.

Re: 73-87 Square Body Calendar - Nominate your favorites!

Agree - in my case, all of the artistic shots turned out to be too low res, so we had to scramble for "Plan B". This was all spontaneous on my part and I didn't really expect anything to come of it.

But, the "...Keith Seymore's truck, again a driveway shot, but when you look at that truck in all it's bone stock fresh off the assembly line glory, beside that clean but modest house, you can't help but think that is exactly how it would have looked 25 years ago when he drove it home for the first time... " interpretation - that's actually pretty accurate!

Actual 25 year old photo:

By the way - since that time I've purchased a much more oppulent house...

(LOL)

I'm gonna have to agree with ya... I've done a handful of these calendars. And I am not always happy with the turnout of all of the pages, but looking at the overall quality of the trucks on average, this one has got to be one of the best. Lots of GREAT looking trucks.

I cheated....

(lol)

I drove it the first year or two here in Michigan, and then we moved to Arizona.

During our time in Arizona I started driving company owned vehicles so I sold this one to my Father in Law. He had it all this time in Arizona and also Montana.

When he passed away in '08 the family asked if I wanted it back. I originally said "no", but....

Anyway - it was pretty beat cosmetically. Took me from May to September to get it spiffed back up as you see here. Then, it's had a free pass the last two winters because I was driving a company car again.

Thanks for asking, btw. I think a lot of folks have no idea how devastating these Michigan winters (and salt) can be on a vehicle.

I've got other "when new" photos included in my intro/build thread, linked below, if anybody wants to see 'em.

Re: 73-87 Square Body Calendar - Nominate your favorites!

It's funny, I have published about 5 of these and never even bought one. I just ordered the 67-72 Burb Calendar and the Blazer calendar. I am pretty pumped up. The quality is a heck of a lot better than I was expecting. One guy's photo is pixelated, but that is because he didn't have a better one. (next time I wont allow that) but overall it is REALLY nice.
