I now own a longhorn!

traded my 82 for this 70 Longhorn today. It needs some love. The PO put in a computer controlled HEI dizzy, used some of the points style plug wires, and is using the resistor wire to power the HEI...the thing runs like crap, but EASILY fixable!

Re: I now own a longhorn!

Hey jocko, this truck came from your area...actually Lake Isabella. I think the PO was not that mechanically inclined as this morning he talked about the terrible fuel mileage it gets. Then when I got home I took a look see for myself and noticed the hacked together ignition...I think I can beat some decent MPG outa this thing yet.

Re: I now own a longhorn!

I might be interested in the camper shell, when you know what you want for it, let me know. I have a 69 GMC longhorn and would love a camper shell. thanks Jenn

Re: I now own a longhorn!

manimal, Protect that canopy...they are very rare and hard to find. I have seen 100's of Longhorns in my travels but only three Longhorn canopies...four (4) now and one of them met an untimely demise under one of my fir trees in a heavy wind.

Wise decision... I sort of like the canapy plus it is period correct. As mentioned I haven't seen that many on longhorns. Again

Really like the old style toppers, especially the solid panel style (like Don's below). For those so inclined Glen L still sells plans for period looking toppers and campers. http://www.boatdesigns.com/Husky-Pla...ctinfo/50-180/

Great find Lance, enjoy the new truck. It is a beauty. All I have left on mine is some new tires and re install upper trim.

Re: I now own a longhorn!

Thanks guys. I am lovin this truck. I fixed the distributor(installed the right HEI),bought new wires and have to build them....actually went to Autozone and they had some "Duralast" build it your self for a vette for 14.99! Best of all they are made in the USA!
