67-68 Hubcaps??
So I have these old hubcaps and I've been wondering if they were on all 67-72's or Just 67-68's?

Re: 67-68 Hubcaps??
those are 73+. 69-72 were similar with chrome center and blue bowtie. 67-68 had red centers on a different style hubcap.

Re: 67-68 Hubcaps??
this may help - 1st and 2nd pic are 67/68 (courtesy of member pickmup/2nd courtesy of 553100 (i think)) 2nd cap is for a CST I believe, 3rd is 69-72, last is 73-75 (both courtesy of member classicbowties) - these gents have been incredibly helpful in helping us understand the whole hubcap world!

Re: 67-68 Hubcaps??
That is good to know! I saw them on a 67-72 on here before so thats why I asked. From the pic it doesn't seem like there is much of a difference between the cap for the 67-72 and the 73+ ones besides colors.

Re: 67-68 Hubcaps??
Those are indeed 73 and newer. May even be made later if they have the plastic centers. (looks like they may) The 69-72 centers were metal.

Re: 67-68 Hubcaps??
If yours are metal - then the question would be "chrome" or "aluminum". If aluminum, then they are 73-75. If chrome, then 69-72. Later ones, which I'm not too familiar with, had plastic I believe - I think the post-75 ones (or maybe even later) are the ones to which too much stuff was referring.
The ones you posted looked very original, so assuming someone didn't go to the trouble to re-paint a 69-72 chrome center in 73-75 yellow color, you most likely have 69-72 full wheel covers (it's usually the other way around - many folks modify 73-75's with black n blue paint to look like 69-72's). Either way, these are classic wheel covers and look great on ALL 67-72 trucks imo. Although this "style" didn't come on 67-68s, many folks retrofit em (I think C10 King's gumby has em and they look great). I say slap em on there and roll with em! |

Re: 67-68 Hubcaps??
'75 was the last year for these wheel covers. I guess some '73s still got metal centers. They only made cast white metal or plastic. Actually, the 67/68 wheel covers are the same design, only w/bowties stamped and w/o the center cap bolted on. Hubcaps are what people call dog dishes or poverty caps. Hubcaps cover the hub and wheel covers cover the wheel.
