S10 swap with a 4.3

Have any of you guys done the swap and used the 4.3 that was in these trucks? I'm considering doing this in my 51 frame swap but didn't know if it would be completely gutless and get terrible mileage or if it would be an alright idea. Any advice is appreciated!

I stayed with the 4.3 because I wanted to keep the fuel injection. The AD is lighter than the S10 so it should have decent power. I have not got mine running yet though.

The 4.3 is one of the best v6's ever made. They can be made very potent, I remember seeing one in the mags along time ago, it was stepside and red I believe. They bored the motor and a lot of other stuff, in the end it was a 4.5 and was said to have over 400hp. But its cheaper and easier to drop in and rebiild the v8's

I figure anything with a Carb should be a bit easier to install but would really like to get some good mpgs so we can enjoy the truck and drive it. You can get running 350s pretty cheap around here all day. I can also buy a wrecked 97 blazer with a rebuilt 4.3 with 7000 miles on it and a tranny for 700 bucks. Then I would have the wiring harness and everything...

Look at my build thread, I ran the 4.3 in mine for one summer and it worked great. For a cruiser, it got along just fine. Would it pull my car trailer....probably not. Mine had 220k miles on it when I started the project, and it ran fantastic. Unfortunately, the 4L60 also had 220k miles on it and wasn't quite so perfect. It did get better mileage than I had expected, I estimate it to be lower 20's on the highway. Then I tore it apart to fix some things...
